SMART No-IDU
The external SMART No-IDU modem module represents a solution alternative to conventional IDU-ODU system topology, bringing a new architecture for a fully functional VSAT system. Housed in a casing meeting military standards, integrates modems from manufacturers such as NDSatCom, Teledyne Paradise Datacom, iDirect, COMTECH – as defined by the user.
Smart mounting design enables installation of the modem module along with ACU module directly on the antenna in field conditions, without use of additional tools. Configuration of the integrated satellite modem can be made directly through the modem's web interface or via ACU by GISS controller, compatible with SMART No-IDU solution.
Full functionality, reduced weight
The SMART No-IDU modem module introduces a new architecture for a fully functional VSAT system, eliminating the extensive and complex IDU component by integrating the entire system within ODU part. Designed to meet both military and civilian standards, the module combines user-friendly ergonomics with reliable operation under all conditions.
By eliminating IDU part, the terminal's weight is significantly reduced. This advantage is not only due to eliminating the RACK-type box required for modem installation in the IDU. It also allows to opt out of heavy, reel-based cabling connecting distant parts of the system.
In practice, this corresponds to rapid tactical readiness of the system, its reduced weight and lower power consumption. These advantages directly contribute to extended operational capability of the VSAT station in field conditions.
